War on Magic Soap!

Punk-Rock Drummer's Drug Arrest Becomes True-Life Soap Opera - Idolator

Apparently the drummer for The Germs was pulled over in Newport Beach and when his bottle of liquid Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap was field-tested for drugs it came up positive. BECAUSE IT CONTAINS HEMP OIL. Then they arrested him. Yeah....I don't even know where to go with that.

Though Dr. Bronner's is totally made up the street from me. ALL-ONE-GOD-FAITH represent!

The state of things...

(14:54:16) primaluxsum: it's weird when you remember shit you haven't thought about in a long ass time

(14:54:23) primaluxsum: i was driving chris to work

(14:54:28) primaluxsum: and near his work there's this big field

(14:54:38) primaluxsum: and he's like "oh wow i've never noticed that field before"

(14:55:29) primaluxsum: and i was like "oh yeah they haven't developed it. there used to be a house on it and when valerie was in high school this kid she knew lived there and then his mom shot him and his little brothers and they all died so they razed the house and the field has been empty ever since"

(14:55:40) primaluxsum: and i had totally forgotten about that up until then

The other day I was talking to Byron and he was looking up anathema in the dictionary. Then he chanced upon the word crepuscular. It basically means relating to twilight and it reminded him of this movie we had watched together, A Very Long Engagement, because a lot of that movie takes place in a no-man's land in WWI and a trench called Bingo Crepuscule.

Now let's hop on over to yesterday. I subscribe to the Word of the Day email from yourdictionary.com and when I checked it that morning the "word of the day" was.....crepuscular. I mean, obviously, why wouldn't it be really? Ha. The funnier aspect was that it was the word of the day for April 4th, but for some reason I didn't receive the email until yesterday.

WOTD:Crepuscular (Adjective) [krê-'pês-kyu-lê(r)]
Definition: Pertaining to crepuscule, twilight; dim or weak in terms of visibility.
Usage: Today's word is an adjective more appealing than the noun (crepuscule) it is derived from. "Twilight" certainly is a more beautiful way to describe the light at dusk than "crepuscule" but "crepuscular" has its charms.
Suggested Usage: Today's word should come to mind in any situation characterized by dimness: "I'm afraid that reading the fine print of this contract demands too much of my crepuscular vision." The term fits many other legal situations, too, "Your honor, in the crepuscular light of the bar, it was easy to mistake my wallet for the wallet of the guy sitting next to me." The judge's vision would have to be crepuscular for him to not see through that excuse.
Etymology: Latin crepusculum "twilight," diminutive of creper "dark." The suffix -ul- is found in several other borrowings from Latin, e.g. "homunculus" and "miniscule." The origin of the root crep- is unclear but it might be related to the cor- "bellow, squawk" of cornix "crow" and corvus "raven" (akin to English "crow" and "to crow") if it acquired an association with darkness because of the color of these birds. However, the semantic relation cannot be established unequivocally.

More insanity, this time from the 50's..

I found this link while reading a thread on AskMeFi about horrible Self-Help book advice. The question was actually spawned by that book, "The Secret", which I have a particular vendetta against since my mother gave me a copy of it to "change my life" or something. But that's a post for another time.

blinkytreefrog: On Becoming a Woman - A tale of many unspeakable dangers.

This link is to scans of a 50's advice book for young women written by Dr. Harold Shryock. A lot of it speaks for itself so I'm not really going to reiterate anything here, but I was definitely struck by how similar the thoughts and explanations about sex are to those in the links this post I made yesterday. At least those women weren't advocating female circumcisions performed by a "Christian physician" like Dr. Shryock over there. And we thought only "those heathen darkies" got to have fun like that!

Took a pic at la playa so that i would remember happy hour! Ha

At least I feel somewhat creative....

I've been super bored during the day so I've taken to randomly making jewelry. Don't ask.
This first one I made for Chris. He bought a pendant with a weird little spiny spider in it and wanted something to match it, so I used these weird Peruvian fired clay beads that look like wood, as well as a few glass and metal beads.

This is a choker I made for myself for no reason really.
Blurry close-up! (I swear my camera doesn't have a macro version)
Blurry pic of a bracelet I made yesterday. I like it, but one of the clasps came off while I was doing laundry last night. Fixing it should be easy, I'm still getting the hang of this "beading" stuff.

As if it wasn't entirely obvious....

I've been redesigning the ol' blog today. Playing with the blogger templates and whatnot....it's still quite the work in process, it's been a very long time since I've done any sort of "web design" type crap.

My new favourite thing on the internets...

Does someone you know need some cheering up because she currently has torrents of blood and tissue spewing from her twat? Never fear, Always to the rescue!

Have a happy period Ecards

I shit you not, they are totally sincere.

I am a disease and I am unclean, I am not part of god's well-oiled machine....

Last night Ikoi shared these two links with me about crazy-abstinence only educators who are invited to speak to classrooms of teenagers and use such "teaching tools" as placing pieces of tape on the arms of young boys and then yanking them off then passing them around to their friends and doing the same, symbolizing the "pain" that "loose-woman" can cause them as well showing that she'll automatically jump from screwing you to screwing your friends. (Non-Virgin)Women are also likened to an already sucked on piece of candy, a rose with no petals, and a cup of spit. We're also earnestly enlighted about the fact that even if a nice boy *wants* to respect a woman, he can't if she's wearing a short-skirt because he just can't help that he's turned on by his senses. This is obviously hard for women to understand, because they're only turned on by their hearts.

Say Hello, Insanity......

Our death is our wedding with eternity....

Oh jesus....watching re-runs of Six Feet Under on Bravo. First the one where Nate dies, now his funeral. Things are so fucking cyclical. I was doing this same thing last year, this time, dealing with much of the same shit. I wish when people left they left for real.

Someone needs some man pants.
